# Yotin Energy

The name comes from *yôtin*, the Cree word for wind — a force that
crosses the land without being seen. WellFi works on the same principle: what
cannot be seen can still be measured.

## Availability (updated 2026-09-29)

The current WellFi batch is sold out. The next batch is due at the end of
October 2026. The homepage's "Join the waitlist" form
(https://yotinenergy.com/#waitlist) holds a place on the next batch; it needs
only a name and a work email.

## What WellFi is used for

- Cable-free downhole telemetry on producing wells: pressure and temperature
  readings travel from the lift point to surface without a downhole cable or
  fibre line to run, clamp or damage.
- Instrumenting a well during work that is already scheduled - a progressing
  cavity pump changeout, a workover, or a new completion - so no separate
  intervention is needed.
- **Heavy-oil production monitoring in Alberta and Saskatchewan**: pump-intake
  pressure, pump and string vibration, and produced-fluid and water-cut trends.
- Heavy-oil wells on progressing cavity pumps, including cold-production
  open-hole multilaterals in the Clearwater and Mannville.
- Sending downhole data to an existing SCADA or RTU over MODBUS RS-485 or
  4-20 mA, without new control-system software.

Scope note: WellFi is a **production monitoring** tool. It is not an MWD/LWD
drilling service, not a wireline logging service, and not sand-control or
flow-control hardware. Yotin's currently offered product line is WellFi.

## Product: WellFi

Wireless downhole telemetry. The tool sends its readings up through the
formation itself by electromagnetic telemetry to a receiver at surface, so there
is no downhole cable to run, clamp or damage.

### Installation

WellFi runs on the tubing string. The collar is made up into the string, or
strapped to the tubing OD inside casing, subject to casing size - confirm per
well. It is most often run on a new completion or during work that is already
scheduled, such as a planned progressing cavity pump changeout or a workover, so
no separate intervention is required. It can also be installed on its own run.

### Data path to surface

A surface receiver and ground reference decode the telemetry and output it over
MODBUS RS-485 or 4-20 mA to the existing RTU or SCADA system. The WellFi Access
Portal also analyzes the data and returns recommendations on drawdown, vibration
and produced-fluid trends.

- Numeric readings on the website's channel cards (for example 2600 kPa or
  4.2 mm/s RMS) are representative illustrations, not live measurements,
  specifications or performance figures.
- Casing-size compatibility for the strapped configuration is confirmed well
  by well; no single casing-size limit is published.
- WellFi is rated to **150 °C**. A higher-temperature version for thermal /
  SAGD service is **in development** and is not available today.
